Rising to the Challenge

In this keynote session from the CHW Sustainability Summit, presenters share how CHWs and CHW Allies have risen to the challenge, locally and nationally, to make the case for supporting and integrating CHWs by employing different strategies to communicate with, educate and engage decision-makers. The moderator and representatives from three 2109 projects discuss some of their strategies and efforts in communicating with and engaging decision-makers on multiple levels of education and relationship building. They share experiences educating members of Congress, Ministers of Health, Health Department and Tribal Leadership.

This presentation was part of the in-person Community Health Worker (CHW) Sustainability Summit hosted by envision – in partnership with the Washington State Evaluation Partnership (WSEP) and Arizona State University Office of Community Health Engagement and Resiliency (ASU) – in Spokane, Washington, on April 16-18, 2024.

The Summit offered recipients of CDC’s Community Health Workers for COVID Response and Resilient Communities (CCR-2109) the opportunity to showcase their work and strategize together about how to continue CHW programs in the absence of CCR grant funding.
